Geography

Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 work towards the Key Stage 3 Programme of Study comprising geographical skills and place. Themes comprising tectonic and geomorphological processes, Environmental and Resource Issues, Weather and Climates, Development, Rivers and Coasts, Work and Employment, Ecosystems, and the study of specific regions are also covered.  Emphasis is placed on making study relevant to today's world.  Fieldwork is an essential part of the programme of study and is provided in all years.

 

For pupils in Years 10 and 11, Geography builds upon the content and approach already described in order to examine the interaction between people and their environment.  Four core modules on Climate, the Environment and People; Water, Landforms and People; People and Place; and People, Work and Development are studied.  Coursework totalling 25% is completed which includes fieldwork.
