8 Mar 2006 - SCIENCE COLLEGE BID COMPLETED
It has been a hectic week in many respects, not least of all because we finally sent our Science College bid to the DfES at Darlington. Mrs Dickson has put a huge amount of time into its preparation and I would like to thank her for co-ordinating all the work, gathering data from the team that worked on various parts of it and making sense of it all.
We will now have a nail-biting wait of three months before the final announcement of successful schools is made in the summer. In the interim, we will begin to put some of the plan into action: a series of community and school activities (such as the Forensic Science workshops, below) can begin to give us a flavour of what is to come.
We are also planning to upgrade one of the Science rooms over the summer break, something that is sorely needed if we want to raise standards in Science. We will also have our latest modular classrooms ready for September, again helping to raise the standard of the environment and hopefully making a big contribution to the achievements of our students.
