9 Mar 2006 - VISIT TO TOWN HALL
Two representatives from each year group from the student council were invited to the Town Hall this week by the Children's Services Scrutiny Committee. They met the mayor, were shown around the Town Hall, and then went into smaller groups to discuss their thoughts and ideas on a range of topics affecting young people across Barnsley.
They covered in-school and out-of-school topics ranging from school meals and their thoughts on school, to youth service provision and their ambitions for the future.
The members of the Committee are to use these consultations to help them to make decisions for the future. At the end of the morning the group had lunch provided, and all agreed it had been a great experience.
Our thanks go to Stephen Rhodes, Emma Shaw, Nathan Winch, Aaron Garside, Joseph Vingoe, Eleni Gerolymbou, Annie Pattinson, and Jade Aranyi for representing the school so well.
There were many positive comments made about how confident and successful they had been in presenting their ideas, and that it was a pleasure to work with them.
Thanks also go to Mrs Krause who accompanied the group.
