Winning poems

Barnsley Chronicle ran a competition around air quality and invited children to submit poems.

Two of our students were winners. Here are their winning poems:

TAKING CARE

by Hannah Prentice (Y7)

Show the world that you CARE
Keep the E for Environment and Exercise
Get rid of the CAR and stay on your bike,
With the power of your pedals you will go far
And that is showing the world that people CARE!!!

POLLUTION: FRIEND OR FOE

by James Prentice (Y9)

Change thinking to GREEN,
will keep our air clean.
By using our pedals,
we will earn our gold medals.
So say goodbye to pollution
and welcome the cycling solution.

Think of this world as created for us,
to make it better we could catch the bus.
Anything that reduces the evils of pollution
will certainly be classed as a GREENER solution.

In the picture you can see Hannah and James with Ian MacMillan, the "Barnsley Bard", who came into school to award them their prizes of a bicycle each.
